Urban Sketching in Ap Lei Chau and Aberdeen
A while ago, I organised the collected #Ourhongkongstories at Tai Kwun, and decided to bring along three coloured pencils based on my mood that day, following the stories to travel and sketch. This mini project finally turned into a trip at the end of January! Ap Lei Chau Street was quieter than I expected (maybe because it was a weekday?). Many shops were closed, yet there were plenty of new construction sites.
Passing by the old grocery store ‘Hing Tai Yi’, I was attracted by to the shop’s signage. The owner told me he is the fourth generation! (Next to it, there’s a QR code from #CityGazette that includes a more detailed story).
Continuing towards the former ‘Bodhi’ (now Ap Lei Chau Park), there were quite a few people along the waterfront, making it a great place for exercise, enjoying the scenery, and relaxing for all ages. On the way back, I took the ferry to Aberdeen, crossing the narrow Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter.
